Islands of Light (Particle/Wave Interaction).

Fritz Horstman.

2007.

Mirrors, plexiglass, steel, cement, rope, water.

Baltimore, Maryland.

Variable dimensions.

This piece was inspired by the ever-changing nature of light. Each 14” diameter mirror was attached to a steel barrel, which was tethered to the bottom of the stream by a rope that had about ten feet of slack. The slack in the rope allowed each mirror to move freely in the current, so that the eight elements were constantly reforming the wave of light.
